ABOUT HEARTS DESIRE EVENTING

Hearts Desire Eventing began in 2002 when my family moved to a farm in south Tennessee. Although a teenager at the time, I started taking on my own project horses to train and resell, and training horses in my area. I had a bit of a niche going for a bit teaching some of the foxhunters basic dressage to help their horses balance, in addition to more typical event horses in training. I continued training horses throughout my undergraduate degree, helping pay for my college education.

In 2014 I moved to Evans, Georgia to start my first full-time job after obtaining my Masters degree, and the focus of the business changed from horses in training to lessons for some of the fellow boarders at my barn. I taught for several years until the barn closed, and we all scattered to different barns.

In 2021 I obtained my 'r' eventing license, and the focus of the business became judging at schooling shows and recognized horse trials, as well as assisting with Pony Club ratings and prep clinics.

In 2023 I earned my USDF Bronze Medal, and took on a new young horse to train, bringing us back full circle to the original training focus of Hearts Desire Eventing. In 2022 we purchased property outside Harlem, Georgia, that we are developing into our own farm which will be the home of Hearts Desire Eventing. We continue to offer lessons, clinics, judging, and training services.

WHAT IS EVENTING?

Eventing is a three-phase competition which includes a dressage test, a show jumping course, and a cross country course. Schooling shows can have levels as low as walk/trot dressage tests and 18" fences; as you move up the levels, the dressage test becomes a more challenging test of your horse's training, and the jumping courses get bigger and more technical.

I love eventing because of the variety. There is always something different to do and work on then the day before, and it really encourages you to mix up your training which will also keep you and your horse more engaged.
